John Mulvihill Joins Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption-Canada Board of Directors

Foundation committed to finding permanent homes for the more than 30,000 children waiting in Canada’s foster care system.

Burlington, ON — The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption-Canada recently welcomed John Mulvihill, Senior Director, Supply Chain Management at Wendy’s® Quality Supply Chain Cooperative, Inc., as a member of its board of directors.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to contribute toward Dave Thomas’ legacy in this special way that is deeply personal to me,” said John. “I am humbled to serve the Foundation’s mission to find loving, forever homes for children across Canada.”

“John has been pivotal in developing relationships with Wendy’s suppliers,” said Paul Hilder, Senior Vice President, Wendy’s Restaurants of Canada and chair of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption-Canada’s board of directors. “His dedication to raising awareness and increasing support for the Foundation’s work in Canada will make a tremendous impact.”

John has been with QSCC for eight years. He is an industry leader who serves as Community Advisor for Supply Chain Canada and as a Board Member for GS1 Canada’s Foodservice Sector Board. Before joining QSCC, John led progressive supply chain responsibilities for top-tier Canadian companies, such as Indigo and Loblaw Companies Limited.

“John’s deep understanding of The Wendy’s Company, relationships with suppliers and enthusiastic support for our mission will be invaluable as we work to expand our Wendy’s Wonderful Kids® program,” said Rita Soronen, President & CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption-Canada. “I look forward to working together to serve more youth in Canada’s foster care system who are often overlooked.”

Through its signature program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption-Canada provides funding to adoption agencies to support the hiring of recruiters who implement an evidence-based, child-focused recruitment model. According to a five-year evaluation in the United States, the model is up to three times more effective at serving children who have been in foster care the longest, including older youth, sibling groups and children with special needs.

To date, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiters in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan and Ontario have found forever homes for 445 children, with another 75 in their pre-adoptive placements.

John earned a Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from the Ontario Institute of Supply Chain Canada, a B.A. Honours Degree from Trent University, and is pursuing his EMBA in Global Leadership from the University of Fredericton.
