Jane was born deaf, premature and with medical complications, and needed a feeding tube to survive. She suffered from severe malnourishment and developmental delays. Jane moved around several times while in foster care and had numerous hospitalizations.
At the age of 2, Jane was placed into a home where she began to stabilize medically, developmentally and emotionally, but there were grave concerns about her adoptability. A WWK recruiter was asked to take her case and shortly after, a match was found for Jane. Her new parents, both deaf, were acutely aware of her needs. They were determined to follow through with adopting Jane and managed to win everyone over with this idea, even the foster parents who didn’t believe she was adoptable.
The recruiter advocated for Jane’s adoption, and helped the family through the entire process. She advocated for the needs of the family following the adoption.
