Research findings
DTFA’s National Foster Care Adoption Attitudes Survey aims to understand North Americans’ attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions about foster care. The most recent survey was conducted in 2007 by Harris Interactive.
The research uncovers many misperceptions and uninformed beliefs about foster care adoption. We work tirelessly to correct these perceptions, and invite you to look over the results here. Learn the truth about this critical issue, and help spread the word.
Together, we can increase the number of North Americans engaged in the foster care adoption process. To do this, we must provide an accurate picture of children waiting for adoption, and families capable of opening their homes. We must also make the specific steps for the adoption process absolutely clear.
Finally, the foster care system must implement key reforms to ensure that the adoption process is efficient and that agencies are responsive to the needs of prospective parents.
